Antibiotic resistance is the ability of bacteria to resist the effect of antibiotics. Resistant bacteria could lead to treatment failure and has become a global concern in public health.
CDC has estimated that each year more than 2.8 million people have got antibiotic resistant infections, and 35,000 people die from it in the U.S. WHO has reported worldwide at least 700,000 people die from antibiotic resistant infections annually. |

One of our studies has investigated the effects of environmental-level pesticides alone and their interactive effects (synergistic, antagonistic, or neutral) with sub-MIC antibiotics on the development of antibiotic resistance.
Long-term exposure experiments on the Escherichia coli K12 strain were conducted and the results reveal that 1) the exposure to pesticides (in mg/L) alone led to the emergence |
